Fire & Life Safety EducationFire Prevention and Education is a department wide effort. All of our members participate in life safety education programs. The Fire and Life Safety Education Program was implemented in the mid 1980's. Donalsonville Fire was one of the first in the state to have such a program. The program has traditionally visited first and second grade students in the public school system to teach them fire safety. Today our fire safety education programs include teaching senior citizens, members at church events, and pre-k students as well as day care children in our community. We have a certified fire and life safety educator who oversees all of our programs, as well as coordinates special events where we interact with our community and hand our fire and life safety teaching materials.
Fire Prevention MonthDuring fire prevention month, station tours are conducted as well as the occasional visit from Sparky the Fire Dog and his friends. The programs listed above are also used during fire prevention month to reach hundreds of kids. It is our hope that these programs reach thousands of our residents and help keep our community safe from fire hazards.
